Take advantage of the cooler weather and amazing sightseeing while hiking through the trails, gazing at the huge waterfalls, picnicking, or even camping! Don’t forget the tents, sleeping bags, and s’mores!
Griffin Farms
Located in Central Alabama is Griffin Farms! This farm opens October 1st and has tons of activities for the whole family to enjoy. U-Pick Farms
There are tons of u-pick farms located throughout the state. These farms allow you to pick pumpkins, gourds, apples, and even sunflowers from their grounds. There are even multiple types of livestock on the property like cows, pigs, chickens, mules, and horses.
Fall Color Trail
Alabama is beautiful year-round, but there’s no denying that fall is the most beautiful time of all. As early as October, North Alabama will begin seeing the changing colors of autumn, and the rest of the state will quickly follow. The Fall Color Trail was developed by the Alabama Department of Tourism to take you on the most beautiful scenic route throughout the state. It will take you through the state’s most beautiful mountains, hillsides, and backcountry on a trip that will last as long as you want! See the directions of the color trail here. They even include an interactive map where you can see how the colors will change throughout the state during the fall season.
Flora-Bama Oktoberfest
Further down toward the gulf coast is Flora-Bama’s annual Oktoberfest. This year, everyone will be dressing in their favorite German attire, and a silent costume-judging will take place throughout the night. The winners will receive a prize! Bring your children as well, and enjoy the live music! Visit Flora-Bama’s website for more information.
Farmer’s Markets
While farmer’s markets are open all year-round in Alabama, they definitely look a bit different in the fall. You’ll see more in-season products like apples, pecans, sweet potatoes, and, of course, pumpkins! The Alabama Farmer’s Market has a calendar to show you what’s in season every month of the year!
